åke Fribytter “Congo” Folding Armchair For Ikea, 1970s
£395.00
Description
“Congo” lounge armchair designed by Åke Fribytter for IKEA in the 1970s, with a collapsible wooden frame, original canvas sling seat and leather armrests. The chair has a low, relaxed profile with a gently reclined back, making it a casual reading or lounging seat that can be folded away when not in use. Classic 1970s Swedish design with a safari/expedition feel, easy to integrate into a living room, bedroom or studio.
Because most pieces are one‑off, I can offer a short, no‑obligation reservation. I’m happy to hold an item for up to 24 hours without payment. After that, it will automatically return to open sale so other clients also have a fair chance to purchase
Condition report:
Good vintage condition with normal age‑related wear to wood, canvas and leather, including small marks and light staining. The original loose pads/cushions mentioned in some examples are missing; the chair is usable as is or can be upgraded with new cushions to suit your interior.
